Christie Merchant

Christie Merchant is a valued member of Plunk Smith’s corporate transactions team, with a career defined by her ongoing commitment to the educational development of herself and others. As an active member of the local and state bar, Christie invests significant time in staying up-to-date with current and upcoming legal developments, regulatory changes, and technological advancements—translating into insightful, pragmatic, and coherent solutions to the evolving corporate landscape.

Christie’s practice primarily focuses on mergers and acquisitions, and outside general counsel matters. With over fifteen years of handling the “people element” in the practice of law, Christie knows when a situation calls for strength versus grace, and when compromise breeds gain. Whether a legal task is large, small, simple, or complex, Christie’s goal never changes—provide quality legal services that give clients an advantage over competitors.

With roots in a small town east of Dallas, Christie is a “displaced country girl” who brings a strong work ethic to everything she does. From raising grand champion livestock, playing collegiate golf, and arguing before some of Texas’ highest courts, Christie is never at a loss for an entertaining story. When away from the office, Christie enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and playing golf.
