Probate and Estate Administration

Navigating the Probate Process

Probate administration is the legal process by which assets from a deceased individual (also known as a “decedent”) are distributed among beneficiaries. This can be done whether or not the decedent left behind a Will. Probate entails naming a representative of the decedent’s estate, identifying the assets the decedent owned at death, distributing these assets in accordance with the decedent’s Will or in accordance with the Texas Estates Code, retitling certain assets to reflect the change of ownership, and paying the decedent’s debts where necessary.
